Pre K 4B

Hello Families and Friends!

Welcome to Ms. Martins PreK 4 class at Saint Benedict’s School.  This is my fourth school year teaching here and the Saint Benedict’s team of faculty, staff, parents, and students is a tight knit, close community.  Prior to teaching at Saint Benedict’s I taught 4 year olds for 12 years, seven of which at St. Aloysius Gonzaga school before their closure in 2007.  Four year olds is my favorite age to teach and each year I find myself learning from them – seeing the world through their eyes. Also, I have my Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Maryland, College Park.

In our classroom we delve into all subject areas of study – math, science, literacy, phonics, writing, religion, and emphasis on socialization, friendship, team work, citizenship, and respect.  Our day is busy and is balanced with written work, crafts, singing, dancing, exploratory learning, learning through play and dramatization, as well as daily “specials” like Computer, PE, Library, Art, and Music.  We also support many areas of study with field trips to places such as plays, the Pumpkin Farm, the Aquarium and more.

I enjoy working closely with all parents in the classroom and encourage open communication at all times.  It is only together that we can ensure the success of your child in this most important year before Kindergarten.  Welcome to Saint Benedict’s and welcome to PreK 4!!
